Giving Thanks!

I hope a wonderful Thanksgiving was had by all! Mine was a bit sad,I was home in bed with some sort of stomach bug,(so not pretty),and I had to miss out on my dinner plans with my darling son. I am hoping to make it up to him sometime in the near future.
While lying in bed feeling quite horrible, I tried very hard to focus on the things in my life that I am truly thankful for. Of course,my son Nick is at the top of that list and all the family and friends that have supported me in so many ways. I am also thankful for the joy that creating brings to my life and the people that purchase and yes even cherish those things that I make.
The pods are turning out to be lovely ornaments! Don't forget to come and see me at this show next week!

Catching Up!

Oh my,it's been way too long and so much has happened since my last post, but if you are still interested in my world,I will try and catch you up.
The summer sped by as it always does and I got to spend a week at the beach! The weather was glorious and my son was just a mile or two away from the cottage that I stayed at,so we spent much of the week together.
Isn't he beautiful?!
I loved the views from our cottage and I had a chance to relax and recharge.
Last month I once again set up a family altar and the San Luis Rey Mission to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. It is now four years since my husband's and father's passing and the spring was two years since my brother died.
The pain of losing them all is still so sharp,I don't believe it will ever go away.
My sister actually, made it out to the festival and here is a rare photo of her with our mother and I. Hopefully she doesn't find this because she will make me remove it, that's the reason you never see photos of her on my facebook  or instagram sites. ;)
Last month I also took my mom to French General for an dyeing with indigo class. It was so much fun and mommy loved it,that's her above playing in the dye vat!  Kaari Meng taught the class and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and we all made some beautiful pieces.
Here's a photo of mom and Kaari,...both are so adorable!!! If you ever get a chance to attend a class at French General you must do it,it's so much fun.
I will try to do another post soon!

Summer has been flying by and if I tell the truth,I am very glad that it is. I have a hard time with the heat and when it is still 99 degrees at 10pm,well,sleeping is difficult. The last couple of days have brought the rare summer storm and while it is a bit cooler,it is also very muggy. I did have a lovely day at the beach a few weeks ago with my mom and nephew.
They are so cute!
Mommy wanted to look for a rental for a week in August and we found one that is perfect for her, right across the street from the beach and in a quiet area. It is also just a couple of miles from where my son lives,so I am excited about spending some quality time with him when I visit mom.
Nick sent me this photo of him and his friend Elizabeth from last month's Anime Expo in LA. He knows I love Hello Kitty and decided he better get a photo with her. :) It was an Alice in Wonderland theme and Nick said they had a blast. Not sure if he's the White Rabbit or the March Hare, but they a both adorable!

Been having fun!

The last couple of weeks have been so much fun,I've been out more than I have probably been for the last three months! Birthdays will do that,I have some darling friends,(Tammie,Nancy, and Gibby),who all took me out. I received some lovely gifts also, but the best gift was getting to spend some time talking and laughing with these people. At one point Nanc took me to the movies and took a photo of me with this cutie who was promoting one of the films.

It was also the boy's birthday this month and he turned the big 21! It is so cliche, but the years really did fly by. Here he is having his first pina colada with his grandma!
I was so excited to have him home for a few days and I almost cried when he had to go back. Here is a photo I took of him and Shadow,(the cat who owns him).
Aren't they both gorgeous?

Flea Market Treasure

Oh my goodness, another post in less than 24 hours!
Just a photo to show you a few flea market treasures I picked up last week.
The little doll will be a beaded mer-baby,the mother of pearl pin and vintage flower piece will be a pendant, and I'm thinking about embroidery for the little silk crepe bag. What do you think?

Happy Birthday To Me!

Thank you to all of you who called, sent texts,or sent cards for yesterday's birthday, I really appreciate it!
I am getting very excited about my boy's upcoming birthday,(the big 21)! Hopefully he will have the day off and I can see him,but if not then plans will be made for another day.
Love to you all!

Life here on Magnolia Ave. has been going on,sometimes busy, sometimes slow. Lately, the unbearable heat has made life difficult and the wildfires that come along with it are certainly hard to deal with. My son lives in Carlsbad and while he was luckily not in the path of the fires he was close enough to have to deal with smoke and ash,but he is safe and for that I am grateful.
Saturday I spent some time at the Relay for Life Walk in Colton. A family friend had a booth there and we helped out a bit and supported the walkers. My sister and her husband,(who is a cancer survivor),walked and so did a nephew,(another cancer survivor).
The photo is of the luminaries that were lit in the evening an d was taken by my niece Monica.

This Saturday my favorite show is happening! Come on out if you can,it will be so much fun. It's a bit early this year, but the great thing is that there is also a huge amount of yard sales that will be going on in the same area. Tammie, you and your hubby should come!

I just found out that the kitty had her kittens!
She had five of them and I've been told that she is a very good mama.
Look at that grey and white one,so tiny and adorable. I'm so glad she was able to have her babies in a safe place at Healthy Paws
These photos were taken by my friend Politti.

Life and a kitty!

Oh my goodness,it's been so long! Life has been super busy and I find it harder and harder to get a post in.
I'm still a caregiver for my aunt and she has unfortunately been in and out of the hospital, she seems to be doing alot better,so hopefully we are done with the hospital stays. I had also been taking care of a kitty that had been abandoned and soon found out that she was pregnant. It took a couple of weeks, but along with the help from some friends we found a place that is taking care of her and will help her and her kitten find forever homes.
She was a very sweet cat and loved being held and petted.
You can see her belly in this one, poor sweetie was getting really close to having her babies,I was so happy to have saved her.
I am now getting ready for Art in the Yard! I love this show and was so disappointed when the November  show was cancelled because of bad weather. I've got a new leather and metal bracelet that will debut and some great stones and pearls that will be showing up in some new earrings. I will post the flyer soon, but the date is Saturday April 26th.

I can't believe a month has gone by since my last post! Life has been crazy busy here,I have started to take care of my aunt on Mondays thru Fridays,so I spend my mornings at her house and then come home and spend my afternoons taking care of my mom. It's been a bit of a challenge, but I'm starting to get a schedule going so hopefully I'll be able to keep this up!
I'm also working on a class proposal and trying to get things made for a show I've been invited to do. I will be sure to post times and dates once I have all the info.
