Well the summer has gone by,but the heat has not, still hotter than Hades here. Alot was done this summer, celebrated some birthdays,(my friend had a mariachi band at his)!
My niece had a birthday brunch at the Mission Inn and my mom and sister sat across from me so I had to snap a picture of them, aren't they gorgeous!?

This Hello Kitty mermaid was made for another dear friend's birthday.
The family had a beautiful baby shower for a niece of mine. That's my sis and her daughters, and the next pic is of Mom and her sister and cousins getting silly at the shower.

Spent a couple of days at the beach and spent some time looking for shells and heart rocks with my great-niece Jordan.

The weather has been a bit bizarre the last couple of days, although the clouds rolling through have been quite lovely.
It has been a long and very hot summer and I am ready to start complaining about the cold!

Life has been going on here on Magnolia Ave even if I haven't had time to post about it, here are some snippets of the last few months.
We've had some losses in our family,my Uncle Lolo died just before the new year and a neighbor that I'd grown up with passed just a few weeks later. Just this week my mom's 15 year old dog Lola died.
I would walk into a room and find my mom chatting with Lola so I know it's especially hard for her.
As usual I have been working on different projects.
The mushrooms have been so much fun and it's a great way to use some of my silks scraps that I just can't toss out no matter how teensy they might be.
The boy came home to visit for two glorious weeks!
I was so happy to have him here and then all of a sudden he was gone again. I always go into a bit of a funk when he leaves, but hopefully he will make it here for Easter.
Meanwhile, spring has most definitely sprung here in SoCal. The neighbors tree has been in glorious bloom for a couple of weeks now,it quite tall and you can see it from a few blocks away.

The calla lilies are up,the rose geranium is covered with tiny pink flowers and the lemon tree is covered with blossoms. Oh the scents are wonderful!

Giving Thanks!

I hope a wonderful Thanksgiving was had by all! Mine was a bit sad,I was home in bed with some sort of stomach bug,(so not pretty),and I had to miss out on my dinner plans with my darling son. I am hoping to make it up to him sometime in the near future.
While lying in bed feeling quite horrible, I tried very hard to focus on the things in my life that I am truly thankful for. Of course,my son Nick is at the top of that list and all the family and friends that have supported me in so many ways. I am also thankful for the joy that creating brings to my life and the people that purchase and yes even cherish those things that I make.
The pods are turning out to be lovely ornaments! Don't forget to come and see me at this show next week!

Catching Up!

Oh my,it's been way too long and so much has happened since my last post, but if you are still interested in my world,I will try and catch you up.
The summer sped by as it always does and I got to spend a week at the beach! The weather was glorious and my son was just a mile or two away from the cottage that I stayed at,so we spent much of the week together.
Isn't he beautiful?!
I loved the views from our cottage and I had a chance to relax and recharge.
Last month I once again set up a family altar and the San Luis Rey Mission to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. It is now four years since my husband's and father's passing and the spring was two years since my brother died.
The pain of losing them all is still so sharp,I don't believe it will ever go away.
My sister actually, made it out to the festival and here is a rare photo of her with our mother and I. Hopefully she doesn't find this because she will make me remove it, that's the reason you never see photos of her on my facebook  or instagram sites. ;)
Last month I also took my mom to French General for an dyeing with indigo class. It was so much fun and mommy loved it,that's her above playing in the dye vat!  Kaari Meng taught the class and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and we all made some beautiful pieces.
Here's a photo of mom and Kaari,...both are so adorable!!! If you ever get a chance to attend a class at French General you must do it,it's so much fun.
I will try to do another post soon!

Summer has been flying by and if I tell the truth,I am very glad that it is. I have a hard time with the heat and when it is still 99 degrees at 10pm,well,sleeping is difficult. The last couple of days have brought the rare summer storm and while it is a bit cooler,it is also very muggy. I did have a lovely day at the beach a few weeks ago with my mom and nephew.
They are so cute!
Mommy wanted to look for a rental for a week in August and we found one that is perfect for her, right across the street from the beach and in a quiet area. It is also just a couple of miles from where my son lives,so I am excited about spending some quality time with him when I visit mom.
Nick sent me this photo of him and his friend Elizabeth from last month's Anime Expo in LA. He knows I love Hello Kitty and decided he better get a photo with her. :) It was an Alice in Wonderland theme and Nick said they had a blast. Not sure if he's the White Rabbit or the March Hare, but they a both adorable!
